Welcome to Beijing

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

I have stayed in Beijing, the capital of China, for one month last year for an exchange program. The Olympic Game was held after I left, so I can enjoy my trip without jamming with the crowd.

I stayed in one of the top University in China called Tsinghua University. The University is really a nice one to study at, it does not only have very nice environment, it is actually a small town! No wonder why many Chinese celebrities have studies there.

The weather there in summer is actually quite hot, but of course sunny days are good for travel! In winter, it snows and is freezing cold, so a summer trip there would be a better choice. Apart from studying on weekdays, whenever I had free time, I travelled around with my friends. Beijing is a very interesting city, it suits every type of travelers.

There are many interesting places to go in Beijing. For history lovers, you must go to the Great Wall and the Forbidden City! They are so marvelous and grand! But of course China does not only have interesting history.

But Beijing is not only for history lovers. For shopaholics, there are many plazas in Beijing and you just won’t get bored. There are also many little stalls on ‘Wangfujing Street’ that you can get very low price stuff there!

Beijing is also for people who love eating! Roast duck is a must try in Beijing, they are very tasty! If you want to try the traditional food in Beijing, you can go to the little stalls on ‘Wangfujing’. If you like to try new things, I would suggest you to try fried scorpion! They are very delicious!

‘798 Artwork Zone’ is a nice place for art-lovers. Artworks are everywhere in the zone and more than two to three days are needed for you to appreciate all the masterpieces there. They are all very lovely.

Beijing is far more interesting than what I can record down here. You should try to explore the interesting things there by yourself. You will have great fun there without doubt! So the next stop is - Beijing!

So how much will it cost to bring up a child? The average family will spend about $295,000 to raise one child and $500,000 to raise two children up to the age of 20. The figure takes into account most of the costs involved in parenting including housing, transport, recreation, food, clothing and education.
