The Very Best Digital Cameras For 2009
Saturday, April 11th, 2009Everyone wants the best of everything. The best house, the best cars, the best spouse, the best kids, the best digital camera. Hang on, maybe that last one doesn’t really belong in this category, but hey, I’m just trying to make a point.
Well, I think we’ve established the importance of your money, even when looking for digital cameras. You can, of course apply this thinking to whatever your purchasing, but for this article, looks focus primarily on getting a good digital camera.
Getting the best digital camera, is a bit like trying to hit a moving target. Sometimes, a really fast moving target. All things digital and technological these days, tend to advance at a pretty rapid rate. Manufacturers are forever trying to up each other, and come up with the latest cool features, and then convince you that you can’t live without it.
For the gadget geeks, this is fascinating time to be living in. The constant change, new features, and cool functionality is like a drug to them. I must admit to get caught up in it sometimes myself. Trying to keep pace for the average consumer, is not always as much fun.
If, however, your not a tech geek, and you just need a new camera for a party, vacation, wedding, or other special event, then the latest cool features are of little interest. As long as the camera will do what you want, you could care less about whether the camera has a 9 point face detection auto focusing feature.
Photography geeks are love getting new cameras and toys to play with every year or six months. So, you can’t blame the manufacturers for feeding that desire. Before digital technology, camera manufacturers only released new models very infrequently. The rapid advances of digital technology, seems to provide the manufacturers with a seemingly endless supply of good reasons for new models.
They’ve never had so many reasons to release so many new models with so many new bells and whistles. Mind you, some of them are great, but some features are just plain useless. Or if not useless, then probably so buried amongst all the other menu features that most users never know they’re there let alone use them.
The really good news though, is that with the power of the internet at our disposal we can get the very latest up to date information at a moments notice. There are tools online, that will compare digital cameras feature by feature, and show you the top rated cameras on a daily basis.
All you really need to do, is visit a few of these sites, usually enter in a little information about what your looking for. Like budget, camera type (SLR, compact, ultra-zoom), special lenses required, and megapixel resolution. You’ll then be presented with a short list of cameras perfectly suited to you and your budget.
